  • Fixed some Mel script issues (1 hr)
  • Spent some time commenting on concept arts and contributed in fleshing out ideas for territory issues in the game (1 hr)

Works In Progress?

To be honest, I didn't have much to do this week. The rig for Kamikaze Unit and Super Unit wasn't too complicated and I was able to finish each rig in 2 hours. Right now, I'm just simply correcting the scripts that I made since I found some issues while I was rigging Kamikaze. Still pretty much waiting for models to come out. At the same time, I've been trying to think of ways to help with the concept art and providing my thoughts when the concept artists post their drawings.

Next Steps

  • Correct the Mel script mistakes, hopefully implement new stuff
  • Rig more models

Issues

  • I'm not all that satisfied with the leg rig we have for the Kamikaze and for Augher. There are quite a lot of controllers to move at once in order for the legs to move naturally. I'm afraid it might end up breaking one way or another. I've tried to come up with ways to change the rig and I've spent some time thinking and testing it while I rigged Kamikaze unit. But in the end, the current rig that I have is the best that I can come up with.
  • The scripts work, but the issue is that it doesn't always work the way I want it to. That's why will have to go in and change the code. Some parts still require me to go into the outliner of Maya and change the names of the controllers or the joints. If I can have an automated naming system implemented into my scripts, then it would make my rigging process a lot faster.

Last Minute Comments

I didn't do too much this week. There is still a bottleneck effect where we haven't yet finalized the concept art for Sniper and Tank, but I'm not blaming the concept artists at all. We want to have the units and towers to be as good as it can be before we jump into rest of the production phase. Since the model for Kamikaze Unit and Superunit was done, I rigged them instead of the original plan where I was tasked to rig the Sniper and Tank. Now we are jumping to our next sprint with only accomplishing a small amount of goals we have set two weeks ago. I briefly discussed with Anna about her plans for the next sprint. Hope that we won't have much of a bottleneck problem anymore since we are trying something new for our next sprint. GO WHALES!
